Corrugated iron is a ferrous metal. Research indicates that 4 percent of the 800 tonnes per year of metal buried annually in the Whanganui regional landfill is ferrous metal which can be recycled.

Corrugated iron can be recycled by taking it to a local scrap metal agent. If the iron is in bad condition or rusting it is accepted at waste transfer stations.
Small quantities of roofing iron is accepted for recycling at the Whanganui Resource Recovery Centre in the scrap metal bin.
Please keep from landfill wherever possible.
