Warning

Please keep plastic straws from polluting land and marine environments as they can be a danger to animals.

Education

Why do plastic straws suck?! This 2018 article elaborates: "It's estimated that in New Zealand we use around 200 million plastic straws every year and what is worse is that they can last up to 200 years in our oceans ..."

Reduce

Refuse a drink straw when offered one.

There are now many alternatives to plastic straws available: paper, metal, bamboo, pasta, edible (riceflour and tapioca starch).

Reuse

Metal and bamboo straws can be washed and sterilised many, many times saving resources from landfill.

Recycle

Plastic straws cannot be recycled.

Disposal

Send to landfill via your normal rubbish collection.
